Want to have a go at this fab new knitting technique? It’s suddenly everywhere!
This workshop is a follow-on from my beginner brioche workshop at Yarndale last year in 2016, but you don’t necessarily need to have tried brioche before to come on this workshop.
Come along and make the Staghorn cowl to help you get to grips with the ins and outs of brioche knitting, including a special two-colour cast-on technique. This fab cowl is worked flat and uses two-colour brioche knitting techniques. The workshop will also cover basic increasing and decreasing to make our Staghorn pattern flow.
We’ll learn the principles behind how the fabric is constructed, learn to recognise the different stitches in your work, and the abbreviations used in patterns. If you wish, we can also learn how to work brioche using continental method.
If you’re attending the workshop, you may wish to bring a pen and paper with which to take notes, as well as your knitting kit – you never know when you might need your usual essentials.
There will be water and squash available throughout the workshop. If you’d like a hot beverage, consider a stop at the coffee cart before the workshop starts.
4mm circular needles – 60 or 80cm should be fine (If you tend to knit tightly, I would recommend either a 4.5mm or a 5mm instead)
Stitch marker (locking, to mark RS of work)
Required skills: casting on, knit and purl.
