Jog-less Knitting in the Round: From Cast-on to Bind-off and Everything in Between

with Valerie Ng

Sunday: 10.00 – 12.30

In this intermediate class, Valerie will discuss the different methods that can minimise/eliminate the “jog” when knitting in the round in the following situations and gain some hands-on experience by making a swatch:

  • Cast-on & Bind-off
  • Multi-row Stripes
  • One-row Stripes
  • Colourwork Motif
  • Bonus Discussion: Garter Stitch in the Round

Pre-requisite: Participants should have worked and completed multiple projects in the round and have a basic understanding of colourwork knitting, colourwork chart reading and colour change in knitting.

Participants will receive instructions for the methods explained in the class alongside links to supplementary information available on the internet for reference and a copy of the following:

  • A simple shortie sock pattern/recipe with instructions for knitting multi-row stripes
  • A simple hat pattern with instructions for one-row stripes
  • A wrist warmer pattern with a stranded colourwork motif and Latvian braids

Please bring the following:

  • 80 cm or longer circular needles OR DPNs for small circumference knitting – 4.5mm and 5mm
  • 25g each of Aran weight yarn in 2 contrasting colours (preferably a light colour paired with a dark colour)

Valerie is a former music educator turned knitting enthusiast from Hong Kong who is searching for a new identity in Holland through knitting, sewing, weaving, yarn dyeing, lace making, and reading Art History.
