A talk with hands on demonstration with Janet Browne

Saturday: 16.30 – 17.30

A short talk about the work and Janet’s inspiration with examples of finished pieces, sketches and designs to illustrate this.

It will be followed by a demonstration of the technique used. Janet will construct a simple sample showing how the work is made and finished with opportunities to handle pieces and ask questions during this process.

Janet constructs fabric and stitch maps, allotments and gardens based on familiar journeys and observations primarily in Yorkshire. The finished work is developed from a long process using sketches from observations and is influenced by folk art and early embroidery. She uses hand dyed cotton, calico, quilters wadding with machine and hand stitch in a range of sizes.
