As the gateway to the magnificent Yorkshire Dales, Skipton is a very charming market town and is rich both in history and outstanding natural beauty.

You can stroll down the award winning high street bustling with many independent shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants, browse around the thriving street market or take a stroll along the picturesque canal with all the colourful narrow boats.

You can also visit the famous 900 year old castle, romantic ruined priory or take a gentle stroll through Skipton Woods.

If you have time, you can venture a little further afield and enjoy the glorious scenery of the Yorkshire Dales National Park just a few miles away.

Skipton has been named the best place to live in the north and northeast of England in the 2026 Sunday Times Best Place to Live Guide.

The town was crowned 2025’s happiest place to live in the UK in Rightmove’s annual Happy at Home Index.
