Yarndale Hope Sock Yarn

Updated 7th September 2020

As you know, we love our Yarndale community and love sharing with you a passion for yarn, creativity and all things woolly.

In our mission to inspire even more creativity, this Summer we formed a collaboration with West Yorkshire Spinners, to produce our very own ‘Yarndale Hope Sock Yarn’ for you to use to knit wonderfully soft socks.

They developed an exclusive colourway just for us which incorporates the vibrant hues of Hope, our sheep for 2020, in bright shades of orange and red with a burst of cerise, green and blue in a stunning stripy pattern.

The wool is 75% Wool – 25% Nylon, with the wool content containing 35% luxurious Bluefaced Leicester making it one of the most sumptuous 4 Ply products on the market. Not only does it make great sock yarn due to its hardwearing properties, but it is also extremely soft and lustrous at the same time.

Our multi-coloured ‘Yarndale Hope Sock Yarn’ is available to buy on our website in a ‘Yarndale Hope Sock Kit’ with the kit comprising one beautiful yarn ball and a Project Bag. The original kits sold out in record speed and, by popular demand, our new kits include a Hope zippered project bag.

In addition, the yarn balls are now available to buy separately, and a Hope Shopper Bag and a Hope Zip Project Bag complete the range.

We are also delighted to announce that we have an exclusive sock pattern available for you to download for free.

It has been created by the very talented Joanne Whitehead who is a member of our local Knit & Natter group, Nutty Knitters. Joanne has an extensive knowledge of all crafts, particularly knitting and crocheting, and has been designing and creating patterns for many years. Not only do her patterns produce beautiful designs, but they are very intuitive and easy to follow.

And we also have a free hat pattern for you to download by Jane Ellison of Skipton yarn shop, Purl and Jane.

As our very own Emma Sandoe says: “We’re all really proud that Yarndale now has its own beautiful ‘Yarndale Hope Sock Yarn’ and we hope it will encourage you to make your own cosy hand knitted Yarndale Hope socks and hats. Sock knitting is an engaging and highly addictive project and even for novices the pattern is quite straightforward to follow. And the results will be a pair of very soft, warm and colourful socks for you to wear with pride, or you can knit a lovely hat to keep you cosy this Autumn and Winter.”

Please do share all your finished sock designs with us on our social media channels as we’d love to see them!
